Welcome to the MVP Basketball League page – Honoring the Legacy of Neal Dobbins
At the heart of our league lies the spirit of the late Neal Dobbins, the visionary founder of MVP. The Neal Dobbins Inner City Basketball League goes beyond the court, embodying the essence of Skills and Drills as envisioned by Neal himself.
Neal’s vision extended beyond the game, aiming to mentor youth by leveraging basketball as a conduit to inspire participation in LifeSkills workshops. In tribute to his legacy, we have launched a basketball league that seamlessly integrates Restorative Circles, Life Skills workshops, and the cultivation of enduring relationships with the youth, all within the context of spirited basketball competition.
The bonds forged during this unique experience are truly invaluable. If you possess sincerity and a genuine care for the well-being of youth, the impact of your involvement can alter the trajectory of their lives and enrich your own.
In our inaugural season, we were proud to have the support of 12 sponsors, each contributing to the success of the league:
- John Elmore
- Back2Basics – Their team showcased an outstanding, undefeated performance up until the championship.
- Erie County Restorative Justice Coalition – Champions of the league, congratulations on a remarkable victory!
- CAO
- Say Yes Buffalo
- TradeFair Food Market
- Retired Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood
- KeyBank
- Fortune Realties (Mohammed Osman)
- Villa Maria College
- The Buffalo Urban League
- Buffalo Parent Teacher Organization (BPTO)
